The Prayer Partner |
At Crosby United Methodist Church, we are completely committed to helping the schools in our community. One way we do this is to volunteer to work with students at our local schools in a program called Kids Hope. We go into two local schools to make a difference. While we are working with students, we have seen that there are many other needs in the schools that we can help meet.
With Kids Hope, a volunteer called a mentor spends one hour a week with one, and only one, student. Each volunteer will stay with this student from 1st-4th grade. The volunteer learns about the students school and life needs, and works to gain the students trust so as to build the student's learning potential.
Behind the scenes of Kids Hope, there are prayer partners. A prayer partner keeps close contact with the Kids Hope mentor and prays for the student, the student's teacher, the student's family, and the mentor. This prayer partner team especially makes the difference for the student.
While Kids Hope is really making a difference, we always have room for more mentors and prayer partners.
If you cannot take a hour a week of your time during school hours to work with a student, or as a prayer partner, there are other ways you can help. We have a list of ways we are working to make the schools of Crosby ISD better for the community. If you are interested in helping make a difference to a child in any way, contact us.. We will be happy to give you the details.
