Crosby UMC currently has two bell choirs. The Rebellion Bell choir is mostly consisted of Youth. They play more progressive, fun music and typically perform at the early worship service once a month. They rehearse on Sundays at 12:30 p.m..
The Bell Choir plays once a month at the second service and rehearses on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. They typically play more formal bell choir music. We always have room for more ringers. The most important part of being in the bell choir is the ability to be committed to practice and performance, because when someone is absent, it is hard on the entire choir. The only skills you need to bring to be in the bell choir is the ability to hold a fairly steady rhythm, stand for extended amounts of time, and be willing to learn. Reading bell choir music is easier than reading other music, and we know ways to make it super easy. It is a BLAST! Please join us! |
Crosby United Methodist Chancel Choir practices at 6:30 most every Wednesday evening. We perform most Sunday mornings at the second worship service.
We sing a variety of anthems from ancient to very contemporary, from traditional, to jazz. We do rely heavily on written music, but if you do not read music well, do not let this stop you from participating. We will help you learn. Choir is a completely different perspective on our worship service. We welcome any that have a desire to help lead our people in song. We always have room for more singers. However, we are currently in need of women voices that can sign soprano or alto. If you are interested, please contact us or come to a rehearsal. |
Our Music staff:
Paula Harrison is the Choir and Bell Choir director. She also teaches music classes to the children that come after school on Wednesdays. She has a lifetime of experience leading musical ensembles. and a gift at making the complex more simple. Gwynn is our piano accompanist. She is extremely gifted at the piano and has worked all her life at being a church piano accompanist. She really makes our worship services and choir performances come to life. Bob Boyles is our organist. He specializes in all things organs and knows exactly how to pull the correct sound out of the organ. He is flawless. Gwynn and Bob manage to balance the two keyboard instruments in a manner to which neither overpowers the other. This makes for the most beautiful of worship experience. |
